My husband purchased my engagement ring from Astrein's just over 5 years ago and Nathan was our jeweler at the time. He went above and beyond, even coming to my place of work that was also in Birmingham to size my finger and then bring me my ring when it was ready. We then ordered my wedding band from Astrein's which fit perfectly with my engagement ring.

After I had my daughter my husband had Astrein's make a stackable ring with my daughter's birthstone to fit with my other two rings and once again they did an amazing job! I had a friend try to clean them and a couple small diamonds on the band fell out. I took it to Astrein's and they fixed it no problem. Lesson learned, only let your jeweler do a great cleaning on your jewelry! I've since been back multiple times for cleanings and most recently another lost stone on my band.

I took my ring in asking if it could be returned in two days and even though they are very busy, Gary assured me it would be ready. I got a call the next day that Gary came in early to make sure it was finished in time. I've worked in customer service for over 20 years and Astrein's is definitely top of the line. Everyone who works there is knowledgeable, friendly and professional. I know I'm in good hands as soon as I walk through those doors. Excellent store. All of their diamonds are certified conflict-free. They also have a great selection of lab created diamonds, which are chemically, structurally, and aesthetically identical to mined diamonds but are cheaper and much better for the environment. If you are looking for beautiful, high-quality jewelry produced with minimal harm to miners and the environment, try Astreins. Judy helped us find exactly what we were looking for, including a specific style of earrings that I couldn't find anywhere else. Strongly recommend.

Best Custom Jewelers ever. My husband Denny introduced me to this wonderful place, the only place he used. When we moved to Florida in 1995 I still went in for purchases. If it was custom they (Jane) would mail it to me when done. I went there to upgrade the diamond in my wedding ring and they took my original diamond, put it in a bezel and made it into a pendant necklace.

I could go on and on. My unique Asterin's tennis bracelet, my diamond eternity ring. This last visit in October was very special. I purchased earring jackets and a "diamond by the yard " necklace. They took the 2 non matched diamonds that I kept from my deceased son's ears, put them in a wrap and added them near the back of the diamonds by the yard necklace.

My mom had a gorgeous garnet necklace they made for her as a gift from my Dad 30-35 years ago (gentleman's night out). It was to heavy for me. Judi and Gary helped me turn it into an amazing garnet ring. I love it all and love all the memories they helped me include in the jewelry. Please stop by and visit, shop. I found an engagement/wedding ring I liked online and asked Astrein's if they could make something similar in my price range. They made the ring even more beautiful ring within my price-point. I worked with Judi who was very helpful and communicative. I only went to a couple stores to look at rings but Astrein's was by far the best experience. Atrein's has a great selection and great customer service. Will definitely be shopping here again. All staff and customers wore masks and there is hand sanitizer available. My experiences at the store felt very safe.

This is truly a FINE jewelry store. This family owned gem features original creations and "on tend" stylish pieces. They are also known for their excellent service and "attention to the customer" approach. An example of their commitment to treating people with respect is what I experienced yesterday. I walked in their beautiful store front, right off the street (Maple) in down town Birmingham.

I was greeted immediately by a lovely woman who didn't seem pretentious or snooty at all. Even after I shared that I was only there to see if they would cut a silver ring off my bloated finger. Without a moments hesitation, she smile and said, let me get the owner. The owner proceeded to carefully and with incredible precision, cut the ring base to remove it.

It took him a little while as he was so cautious as not to hurt me. Then he said, "there you go, no charge." I was floored. If you're looking for a quality, jewelry store that you can trust then ASTREIN's is your store. You will be hard pressed to find a more Luxurious experience without the snobbery. What a breath of fresh air. I've traveled to just about every major city in the world so I can say with certainty this one is a winner.

My first experience with Astrein's was when my husband and I were choosing our wedding bands. I knew I wanted something custom for my band and Judi and Gary made all of my dreams come true! After getting engaged on Christmas day, we were completely overwhelmed about how long many jewelers in the area were saying it would take to get my ring sized (too big to wear without being sized). We decided to go to Astrein's and they completely won me over! One of the jewelers wanted to give us a Christmas miracle, and was able to squeeze in the work by the end of the day. I visited Astrein Jewelers went in to order a special order Sylvia ring (which they do carry).They went out their way to take care of me. Pam and Gary were incredible. I will never go anywhere else when it comes to any of our Jewelry needs or wants. I can't thank you enough. Im a real person and this is not a review from the establishment. One of the absolute best jewelers anyone can ever use. They are the friendliest staff, professional and very welcoming. I never met jewelers who had their customers best interest in mind more so there own. The owner Gary is a very knowledgeable and splendid individual to work with and he designed the wedding ring of my fiance's dreams. When it comes to diamond shopping prices are pretty consistent but when it comes to service, quality of work, and patience to work with you to design exactly what it is you need, the Astrein's are the ideal jewelers and you won't be disappointed with what they have to offer you. Some years ago I had a family diamond reset and appraised at Astrein's Jewelry store. I recently attempted to sell the ring and diamond back to Astrein's. I was offered one third of their own appraisal value and told that the money would be paid over time in three payments. I made a counter offer and was told I would get a call back that same day confirming my offer. No one called back. What's happened to this store?

After many years of patronage, I returned to Astreins with an outdated Astreins engagement ring with the intention to redesign the ring using the center diamond and sell the gold and side diamonds. I was disappointed in the quote provided on the sale of the gold. After getting a better quote from Wachler's than from Astreins on their own ring I became disenchanted with the whole transaction and did not proceed to have the ring redesigned. The biggest issue is that as a repeat customer with an Astreins product I could not get a fair price on trade in. I am a customer no longer!

I'm super impressed with Astrein's quality and customer service. I've gotten my engagement ring custom made here and purchased my wedding bands. Each time I was greeted by friendly and help faces. My son wanted a real gold chain and cross. He was not satisfied with the one him and I made from Michael's. My husband took him to see Gary at Astreins and they picked out the perfect necklace and cross fit for a 10 year old. My son could not wait to pick it up and start wearing it. My sister's first husband bought a trillion cut diamond here for her as an engagement ring. My sister is very fussy and can spot a carbon spot that Superman couldn't detect. The staff here listened carefully and brought out only the best. The marriage didn't last, but the ring did! It turned into a down payment on her post-divorce apartment!
