We are extremely pleased with the service we received. We had two rings appraised for insurance purposes. The work was thorough, affordable and the turn around excellent. The people were friendly and knowledgeable. The shop is easy to get to and there is ample free parking. We will definitely go back should the need arise. I highly recommend Bothwick.

What a great experience. We've found our jewelry store and look forward to going. The people are great. Sooooo fun. Love the choices and quality of the products. There is literally no pressure to buy anything. But the prices are so great I find Myself buying a little something every time I go! It is not an intimidating jewelry store like some. They can work with all budgets. I'm thrilled with my purchases!

I'm always greeted warmly and have someone help me quickly. I take ALL my jewelry repairs to Tom as I know my keepsakes aren't out sourced but stay in the shop. Estimates are accurate and exactly the amount quoted. Tom redesigned my wedding ring and I love what he did.

My husband and I have been going here for over 20 years. Today I brought my elderly mom there to shop and saw 4 of the 5 employees without a mask. Four customers and only 2 were masked. An employee approached me to offer help. When I told her "No thank you. There are too many people in here without masks" she said " we can put them on." So I guess that sign in the window requiring masks is a joke. You lost my business

Me and my wife purchased our wedding/engagement rings from here and not two months of having my ring the "gold" has worn off to now a silver. After receiving it 3 days late then being asked to pay for an express delivery charge because of their failure to submit the order a few weeks before my wedding. Luckily we received it the day prior thankfully to them eating the freight charge that was originally requested from me.

We had my wife's ring soldered to her wedding band to the engagement ring and it came back after our request that the top of the ring be flush with the rest of ring. Half of the ring was but the other side was anything but. Her ring is not centered and permanently off. We were told that due to my ring being not up to par they would solder it and expedite the process free of charge.

When I came to pick it up for my wife I claimed she would not like what I would be bringing home to which the owner/manager claimed "I think it looks better this way" as he did with my ring when originally brought to him with the missing gold. Of course me and my wife could not be anymore disappointed with the lack of professionalism or quality of work from this establishment.

I did have great experiences from Moe who is a true professional in every fashion of the term customer service. But I cannot say the same for a manager who claims his and the employees poor service as "looking better this way"

Wow this little store has earned The name Diamond key from a little store to an amazing lay out and selection for any budget! We have had several repairs and purchased multiple necklace and been very happy. One necklace we bought broke within a week and they took care of us no questions no hesitation. Watch batteries and watch selections they have the best in town! The crew they have working for them, really keeps us coming back! Kristi is a rock star!

My Wedding ring was missing a diamond although we did not get this ring from this establishment only because we didn't know of it I brought my ring to them. I believe my ring was even under warranty at my previous jeweler but I trust this establishment. They were super fast. My ring is perfect. Can't even tell it had major work done to it. They were affordable and the team is incredible. Since moving here we have only bought and recommended this place to all our friends.

I brought my engagement ring to be sized down from a 7. The young lady who helped me suggested I try a 6 to make sure. And it was a much better fit than the 6.5 I was going to size to. The price to size my ring down was much lower than I anticipated. They told me that it usually takes about a week to size my ring. No big deal. They called me back the same exact day that I dropped it off.

Not only did my ring fit perfectly, but it was seamless, and they cleaned my engagement ring for me and it sparkled like the 1st day that I got it. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. We'll be going back for sure

I had spotted a gift in the store that I thought my daughter would like but wanted her to see it before I bought it. She met me at the store in her vehicle with her daughter who was asleep in her carseat so we didn't want to disturb her. I went into the store to tell them our situation. Tom came out to assist me and when I explained what had happened and why my daughter was unable to leave her vehicle, he offered to take the whole tray of jewelry out to show her in the parking lot! Tom ended up making a sale out of this but I feel like he did it out of the goodness of his heart as well! They have our business forever! I would have ranked them with 5 stars but that would only have happened if they were giving away jewelry! Thanks again Tom!

People are friendly and very helpful. O had two necklaces repaired and they even had backings to put on my mother's earrings with threaded posts. I would recommend jewelry repairs with them. They also have beautiful jewelry for anyone you should want to spoil

I've now tried this place twice to have some jewelry repaired. They were very nice people but their lazer is broken every time I've tried to drop by. I'm moving on, your shoddy equipment lost my business.

Though the jeweler didn't want to bother with an inexpensive ring my 8 grandkids gave me, with $ they had saved, I really didn't stress how important it was to me. My bad. He did repair a pair of glass frames that couldn't be replaced! For that I am grateful. He also replaced a few diamonds in a ring. The help was excellent in patience and expertise in helping me pick out gifts for several Christmas gifts last year. I will go back.

When a business lies about giving or offering a refund, in response to my wife's traumatic experience of abuse in her Yelp review, I leave a whole new review. We did NOT a get a refund nor were we even offered a refund. We left. And will never go back.

I inherited my grandma's diamond ring. I wasn't crazy about the band or setting. Within 10 minutes of entering Borthwick, they showed me exactly what I had in mind. I am so happy with the new design. They polished up all of my rings and they look gorgeous. Thank you to all of the staff, you are amazing!

To call Borthwick Jewelry a pawn shop is an insult to pawn shops. My fiance and I needed to have an appraisal done on our engagement ring to have it added to our homeowner's insurance policy. Currently, my fiance and I still can't figure out what they were thinking. We don't know if they thought we were there to sell the ring (we are there for an insurance appraisal), but what occurred next was either a sign of their complete incompetence as jewelers or as crooks.

The "appraisal" they gave us stated that the diamond on the setting was fake. That my fiance's brand new engagement ring was worth 1/8th of what it should be (great experience for a newly engaged woman). It was only after I told them that I've already had the diamond appraised and GIA certified did they recant their statement. "Oh, well, we can't appraise diamonds of that quality." Borthwick's Jewelry can't tell the difference between real and fake diamonds.

We honestly thought they had switched out our diamond for a fake one. They admitted they don't own a microscope, can't see inclusions on a diamond, and appraised my stone's quality on a visual heat test by "torching" it to see the color. Wtf? So, not only can they not determine a stone's quality, real from fake, or use any method deemed appropriate for diamond appraisal, they can't do insurance appraisals.

Every measurement they did was inaccurate, and the final page they gave us lacked any information an insurance company would need to insure an item. I have now had the pleasure of going to two additional jewelers to ensure Borthwick's didn't do anything "criminal" to our ring. I have intentionally waited four days to leave a review so the owner could call me; we left a message for him to do so.

Thank you Borthwick's for a truly unforgettable experience. P.s. Watching them backpedal at 100mph once they realized we were educated was the only enjoyable part of this circus.

Was looking for a replacement for the diamond in my wife's wedding ring that was lost several years ago. After looking at a couple of the chain stores in the mall, I wanted to check with Borthwick's, mainly because I live in Ferndale, they are local, and I have heard good things. The chain stores tried to upsell me, and would have had to order the stone, and send the ring out for setting.

The salesperson at Borthwick's was very friendly and helpful, and showed me a couple options that were in stock in the store in the price range I was looking for. She said it would take up to a week for the fitting, and would be done in house. I left to think about it for a little while, then came back and was able to negotiate the price down a little more on the diamond I wanted.

I made the deal, put down half the cost for deposit, and was told it could take up to a week if any changes needed to be made in the setting. Three hours later I got a call and they said it was already done and I could pick it up when I was ready! I went back, picked it up along with an appraisal. The ring looks like new. They advised that we bring it back every six months or so for cleaning and inspection at no charge. I gave the ring with the new diamond to my wife on out 30th anniversary. She was very pleased at the selection I made on the stone, so I'm happy. :

I only give 1 star because you have to give a rating! Where to begin? When my husband and I got married we purchased a wedding ring and band from a private individual years ago, I took the ring in to have it appraised for safe purchase, the owner appraised it to be real diamonds and gold. As I was going through my records of insurance I realized I needed to have current appraisals on my rings so last year I went to borthwick to have my wedding ring appraised again, and at that time I found a very expensive diamond band they had and was sold on purchasing it!

Because I was buying more jewelry from him he exclaimed that my wedding band appraisal would not cost anything, which I was very pleased with. Last month my insurance company notified me that they did not have an appraisal on my wedding band! So I called borthwick and asked if he could email me a copy of the appraisal, as I couldn't find my copy.

The owner began to tell me that they have never done an appraisal for me for that ring? I told him that over the last 10 years he has done 2 appraisals for me on that exact ring! After much conversation the owner told me to bring it in and he would do another appraisal for insuranc purposes, so I did! I received a call days later from one of the employees who stated to me that the appraisal was ready but it was $4,000 less than the previous year?

I asked how could that be? She stated she would have the owner call me back! He did! He was extremely abrasive in his verbiage "so, not happy with my number"? and stated they had never done an appraisal for me for that ring and that I'm a liar! He said I was trying to make him lie about the value of the ring and he wouldn't do that! I told him I would never want him to do that and I was trying to ask him why the value would drop so much in 1 year?

He again stated he never did an appraisal for that ring! And hung up on me! Believe me I was going to find last years appraisal no matter what! Today, I found it! I took it to the store and politely asked if I could talk to him and the employee that did last years appraisal, he agreed! When I showed him last years appraisal he stated that I talked him into lying about how much the ring was worth so I could get more insurance for it!

I was appalled! Knowing that he was in the wrong, I reminded him of his accusations of "never doing an appraisal"!, he screamed at me! I have never really seen anyone "froth" at the mouth, but this man did! I could tell the employees hiding behind him were very disturbed by his behavior! Honestly it was insane! I cannot believe how he "screamed" at me!

I would never recommend anyone to give this man any business, he really doesn't care about his customers and when he looses it while being caught in his own lies it's just embarrassing!

Very knowledgable and friendly service. Clearly explained the difference between precious metals and various diamonds. Will definitely come back and refer friends and family. Thank you for such a great experience.

I have taken my wedding ring set in a couple of times to have prongs examined after hearing from the original seller that I had loose stones. The first time, Borthwick said "no, your settings are fine" and polished the ring (all for free); the second time they did find broken prongs and fixed those for a very reasonable price. I also had them rhodium plate my white gold anniversary band, and when I took it back in for the second plating they also plated my platinum wedding ring set so they were both shiny and sparkly (and didn't charge me for the wedding set plating). Additionally, several years ago I purchased a white gold necklace with 3 different birth stones for my mother-in-law (one for each of her kids), which she absolutely loves and has since added even more stones for all her grandkids. I got a very good price on the purchase and the sales staff was very nice. I definitely recommend them!

My fiance and myself were ready to buy that wedding set that would show the world how much we are in love, Borthwick was recommended. We were very impressed with the friendliness of the staff as they were all willing to help and give suggestions and advice. Since buying wedding rings isn't something either of us do often we decided to check out a couple of places in the mall as well. Wow what a difference.

If you want a boring ring buying experience please enjoy your time at the mall, if you want to have fun and feel loved go to Borthwicks, they have an amazing selection of rings and other jewelry and the owner and all the staff are awesome. Great experience. Very knowledgeable. Got a great deal on a ring for my wife, we upgraded her wedding ring to a huge rockHe also gave me the half off diamond sale that happens once a year even though it was 27 days past the end of the sale. If you want a personal one on one sales experience and not a cold corporate rushed one then I recommend trying this place out.

The owner of this place is rude and arrogant. I went to have my ring sized that I had just received as a gift from my husband. I asked the very friendly and helpful lady if there was a way to adjust the prongs as they stuck out too much and poke my fingers. The owners piped in and said "no they don't.you're just not used to wearing it." I told him that my husband had bought me a ring previously from them and it does the same thing and I never wear it.

He argued and insisted that I just need to wear it and that it does not stick out too much. The other staff tried to be helpful and suggest a different setting and he told them not to do that because "she won't like it and will complain about that too" and then he would be stuck with two rings! I showed the lady another ring I had (not purchased from them) that the prongs didn't stick out and was comfortable to wear and asked if the new ring could be like that.

The owner walked by and saw me holding the ring and said "let me see that" he took my ring and said: "there's nothing wrong with the prongs and they DONT STICK OUT". I looked at him and said."I know.because that's MY ring that I DIDNT get here. NOT the new one." He stormed off.probably because he was embarrassed that he just made a fool of himself.

This guy was a total jerk and rude and needs some major lessons in customer service. I appreciated the staff that listened and tried there best to hear what I needed.the owner jumped in and interrupted every chance he got and made it unpleasant. A thoughtful gift from my husband turned into a horrible day and left me feeling like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman when she got treated like crap at a boutique. Never again. I feel bad for the staff that have to work with him.

By far the best experience I've had with any jewelry store. I went in the other day completely clueless on what to get my grandmother for her birthday, and Tom saved the day! Undoubtedly the best customer service I've seen yet. Tom Borthwick is not only compassionate about what he does, but he strives to get you exactly what you want in a piece of jewelry!

His bubbly energy is contagious, and his jewelry is absolutely mesmerizing! There's everything from a vintage-style treasures to what's trending now! And the good news is is jewelry is not the only thing that's sold here. For those who love crystals, you'll love it here! The crystals are gorgeous, and perfect for a healing terrarium or what have you. So in conclusion: great service, incredible jewelry AND more! I VERY HIGHLY recommend this place for your next diamond-craving!

My husband purchased a bracelet for me for Mother's Day from Borthwick. They didn't have exactly what my husband wanted to get for me, so they helped him find one in a catalogue to order. It was absolutely beautiful and I loved it. However, the clasp that it came with didn't work properly. I took it back in and they ordered a new clasp.

Although I did have to pay for the new clasp, they did not charge me for the labor. The day I got it back, the bracelet broke. I took it back in and they decided look the whole thing over. They told me that unfortunately it was poorly made. They contacted the manufacturer who said that since they had "altered" it, they would not stand behind the bracelet (ironic, since the reason it was "altered" was because the clasp the manufacturer used was faulty).

The good news was that Borthwick really wanted to make this right for me and let me select any item from the store or catalogue of equal value to the bracelet plus the extra clasp. They apologized over and over for this happening (even though it was not their fault) and were great at helping me pick our a replacement bracelet. I am very happy with my new bracelet and very happy with the service I received. They have gained a new long-time, loyal customer!

When I look at the shop when I'm driving out of town, I feel bile rising. The owner clearly took advantage of the fact I didn't know the price of gold per oz when I sold him a 24 carat gold bracelet weighing multiple oz. He told me I was in luck, gold prices had just gone up, evidently so did his greed. I happened to come across gold prices a few days later, quite by accident.

I quickly surmised he made at LEAST $2k profit off me (probably more like $3k) and I only made a tiny sliver of what he made. I trusted him to do a decent deal with me (we are in a small town, so you like to give people the benefit of the doubt.) and now I wouldn't trust him with the lint on my sweater. I went back in his store to switch out a watch battery but with the intention to bring up the bracelet. Conveniently he couldn't recall it OR me and said he didn't keep records of gold that he bought from customers!

Not keeping records on items such as that?! Rigghhhhhhhttt. That's when I realized precisely what kind of person I was dealing with. I will never step foot in his shop again and I've advised my local friends to follow suit. He has multiple signs around the area that state his business buys gold. All I can say is "buyer beware". I gave him 1 star but only bc the system requires I choose at least 1. In an ideal world, he wouldn't get any.
