Befre the pandemic (so this is way overdue), I went to Joe to get several pieces appraised for insurance purposes. Joe was very professional and efficient. He also shared a lot of knowledge and truths about the jewelry industry of which I was not aware and it was very eye opening (and not in a good way, but it was honest). I have more items needed for appraisal and will go back to Joe for his expertise. Thanks for the great experience Joe!

Brought a watch to be appraised for sale - he has to call a buyer in California- we go back and forth and I don't get a warm fuzzy - there's something a bit off about this whole thing - We sold the watch but we were told WE, meaning all of us, would go to the bank - truth is that WE meaning my husband and I with a check from this guy have to go to the bank and hope that is gets cashed - all the while where he has my watch if the bank doesn't accept the check - shady to me - so we backed out of the deal - the "buyers" in California gets called and tells the gem guy, Joe to just pay us out of his own money and he will sent him the cash on Tuesday - Joe isn't happy and complains that he doesn't "fund" this buyers things - Well, in my opinion, if you don't trust him to pay you how the heck do you expect me to trust you with a check that the bank may or may not cash.with a flimsy receipt - We go to walk out and take our watch - Joe decides he can raid his "pocket money" and goes up to his apartment and gets us the cash - I am still not convinced this was an up and up deal but we wanted cash and took it - leaving an expensive Breitling watch to be sold for pennies rather than what we thought it should be - buyer beware - he may be a certified gemologist but basically I think it's shady - he also did not remember (how convenient) that we had an appointment at 10 am on Saturday where we traveled about 2 hours to get to him - then after we left he called me 3 times asking if we could move our 2 pm appointment up to 12 - I told him we were just there - and he said, oh.
I guess I forgot - Um yeah - Please do your research and go to a jeweler to sell your expensive watches. I am not sure how reliable he is or if the watch will actually be sold for $1800 as he told us it would be but we made the decision to take what was offered. I think this is a shady operation and would seriously not use this company again. The advertisement on Google is for Orlando Diamond and Watch buyers who purchase Breitling and Rolex watches - they are actually out of California and this guy Joe is the go between - complaining he only gets $50 for putting up with this if you don't like what the offer is from the buyer in California.
When we backed out of the deal Joe basically threw our watch and box at us over the desk and said, I don't need this.take it and go.which we were happy to do - I told him I didn't want to be a bother and honestly, I didn't feel he was being above board - but for some reason he decided he could "find the pocket change" to pay us. Jerk to say the least. Ask him about paying with CC and he will start this rant about how diamonds are serious business and in NY this and that then proceed to hang up on you before you tell him ok I'll pay cash. POS is what he is. Take you business elsewhere besides this clown! Notice his other 2 "reviews" use the same term. yeah go to another place.
