Spiny Oyster Shell is a shell that is harvested in Baja California. It comes in a variety of bright oranges, deep purples, rich reds, and in some rare cases, a bright yellow. The yellow is usually found in the purple shells. There is also a species of spiney oyster shell from the Philippines. This shell is a much smaller shell and it is a bright orange color.

Passing through Bakersfield I thought I'd Google "silver and turquoise". Don Lucas hit and I beelined to their HQ and shop on Oak Street. I was greeted by Lindsay and she showed me a few pieces. I didn't see anything I wanted until I asked her if she had any men's rings hidden in the back. Stroke of luck, she pulled out a whopping gorgeous ring. Unfortunately the band was too small for my finger BUT.another stroke of luck, they have 2 people on site that can resize on the spot.
It was stretched to a 13 for me. I also wanted it re polished and that wasn't an issue either. They were very good to me on the cost and we struck a deal that I'm very happy with and I'm very happy with the ring as well. It's got great detail, workmanship and is very heavy due to the 30mm x 22mm Sleeping Beauty turquoise stone. Based on this experience I can highly recommend Don Lucas.

My fiance and I were talking about our wedding bands in the car and drove by Don Lucas and stopped to get our fingers sized. We were greeted by a very friendly dude who sized us both. He gave us some ring info and sent us on our merry way. I didn't purchase anything so I can't comment on the jewelry.

Very cool place. It's on the corner of 18th and Oak, and I think it has been there for forever and a day. Anyways went in to get my girlfriend a birthday gift, and was helped by a little lady named Shelly. She was very helpful and nice. Although the jewelry is a little expensive, it is all hand made right there in the shop, and you can most likely find something in your price range. It's a pretty cool operation.
The jewelry is unique and colorful and well-made. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get that special lady in their life something nice that she will wear forever!
