They tried to allow a $1050.00 charge to my card. Luckily my bank flagged it and called me. No I did not try to use my card five minutes ago from California to a jewelry store in RHODE ISLAND!

Customer service phenomenal! They custom made a bracelet for me to replace one I lost. Couldn't find bracelet on their website so I sent them pictures and they replaced it for me. Original bracelet had huge sentimental value to me and I recieved the bracelet before my birthday and ahead of schedule which was a wonderful surprise. Best quality and customer service!

Visited Newport back in October and we always make it a point to stop in at J.H. Breakell. Found the perfect pair of earrings and bought them as a Christmas gift for my wife. Great people and local craftsman.

Have shopped with them online for years as have loved their pieces and quality. Though the shop is certainly minimal, the customer service was more than accommodating, the view into the workshop interesting, and the historical neighborhood was amazing.

Just got my newest catalog. Can tell already must have a change of hands, again. Been a customer before it was even a mail order company. Can definitely see the difference in design. Makes you wonder if craftsmanship is still of quality. Doesn't seem as original.

Recently took a sterling money slip in to have my parachute badge soldered back in place. Management recognized that the piece was very sentimental and that I was a veteran. They completed the work the same day. When I returned to the shop I found my money clip had beautifully repaired, and polished. They would not take any money for the work. Great people. I highly recommend doing business with this silversmith.

J.H. Breakell & Co. makes beautiful jewelry that is high quality, elegant and long lasting. Every year, a new snowflake design is released as a pin, ornament, pendant, charm, earrings, and more. Each snowflake is different than that of previous years, yet retains a uniqueness that remains timeless, even over 5 years. Other than the snowflakes, my favorite pieces have come from J.H. Breakell & Co. such as my green sea glass pendant, and a flower with my birthstone pendant, that I wear regularly, on sturdy chains that were bought to match each pendant. Other pendants including the treble clef have made perfect gifts for family members.

Absolutely wonderful business establishment. The jewelry is beautiful, elegant, and craftsmanship excellent. They always to a great job listening to your needs both on the phone and in person at their Newport shop - ship fast! Whatever I buy always seems to be a hit with my wife.

We have visited twice now and will be returning. It is a small shop but darling and the service are sweet, not pushy. We have now bought three pieces there. What is truly special is each piece is handmade and unique- they are gorgeous. Also, the prices are not over the top so you can buy a gorgeous item and not feel overwhelmed. The "Newport ring" is a personal favorite -and now I also have the Newport bracelet. I can't recommend this place enough- GO!

J.H. Breakell & Co. is another hidden gem in Newport; located off the beaten path and one block away from Thames Street. As with many of the little-known but lovely things about this sweet town, tourists will often (sadly) overlook Spring Street which is home to many small, locally-owned novelty businesses and beautiful colonial architecture. My favorite thing about this little shop is its history; being of humble beginnings, and where many years of hard work and creativity has paid off.

The Breakell's started their business in the basement of their home only to outgrow various spaces throughout the years. At their current location, there is a very cool workshop located near the retail store where you can watch the artists venerate in their extraordinary and ancient craft. All of the items are created on-site, and designs tend to give nod to nostalgic Rhode Island traditions.

Where else are you going to find handcrafted, high quality jewelery molded into shapes like the Rhode Island Red rooster, horseshoe crabs and jellyfish? They also sell special collections for weddings, graduations, birthdays and so on. Each year they create a signature snowflake pattern, and the locals rush to the store once it's released to see it while checking off their holiday lists.

The design is fashioned into earrings, necklaces and pins, and my friends never seem to grow tired of receiving complements from the assembly each year. The silver necklaces are quite beautiful and for $45.00, it's a pretty special gift. The Breakells once created an exquisite sterling silver broccoli pin after the Bushs publicly announced their disdain for the vegetable, and ordered it to be removed from the White House menu.

The pin was sent to First Lady, Barbara Bush and of course, later to the Clintons and Gores who smirkingly announced that they were, in fact, proud fans of the undistinguished veggie. For $95.00, it's worth every penny, and the ideal present for the dietitian, chef, foodie or ha! politician in your life.

We live in California so we have never been the their store but we receive their catalog a few times per year (they do not spam you with weekly catalogs like some companies do) I have several pieces; the Celtic heart pendant is one of my favorites. Also have a bracelet and the harp pin all in gold. The quality if excellent and the designs are unique. I have received many compliments. Their customer service is wonderful.

Located on spring street behind the historic church on the hill, JH Breakell is an original store for jewelery. They have odd hours and a limited collections but these are original designs and individually created by a craftsman. Silver pendants can be as cheap as $25 (chain not included). I love their designs and simplicity. I know that when I get married, my bridesmaids will get something from here. They also have jewelry that represents newport.
