The oldest male is kind of a clown and comes off very dishonest. I asked for a ring to be sized down. He quoted me $85, double what most place charge. I asked him why so high and he responded why this annoying heckle of a laugh which is really unprofessional. He then said price of gold is close to a record high. I told him I'm familiar with the price but since we are sizing down, we're not adding gold. He simply responded, "well, it is what it is." What a rip off and delivered with poor customer service. Maybe he can rip off the locals because there is no one else around.

I was a little unsure about going to the jewelry store after reading the earlier review but I had the exact opposite experience. Mr. Hofstetter and his team were very professional, very pleasant he listened carefully to my needs, and the pricing is reasonable as well. Finding them in Jefferson was a little bit out of my way but very well worth it. I will definitely be a repeat customer of this family owned and operated business

We had a phenomenal experience with JR Hofstetter! Long story short, based on my style preferences my fiance was unable to propose with an engagement ring out of fear that we could not re-size it (he used a place-holder instead). I wanted a modern tension setting with a non-traditional stone (basically not a diamond). We were very surprised at how difficult that was to find!

We tried to work with local jewelers and jewelers online, and we were told that they would not work with us, quoted a price that we thought was unreasonable, or were "stone shamed" for not wanting a diamond engagement ring. Eventually someone recommended JR Hofstetter to us, and we decided to drive out and give it a shot. That wound up being the best decision!

The staff was friendly and informative, and the jeweler was very straight-forward and willing to work with us (included the loose stone we had procured before we found him). There was no "stone shaming", and he gave great suggestions such as creating a faux tension setting to increase the strength of the ring. After two weeks the ring was ready, and exactly what we wanted!

The price was very reasonable, especially for a custom piece and a matching wedding band. Overall, the outcome of a very long and very frustrating 5 month process ended with a wonderful experience that had us smiling. I recommend this jeweler without reservation!

Giggling to myself at the previous review. It honestly doesn't get any better than JR Hofstetter. I think the fact that they have been in business nearly 40 years can speak for itself. They have withstood the test of time through their excellent customer service and craftsmanship. The best part is that they are a team of talented jewelers- not "salespeople" you would find at a mall chain jewelry store.

The vibe in the store is wonderful and they truly go out of their way to take care of your jewelry and ensure you are happy with the finished product. Trust me- this is THE jewelry store to take your business to.
