The name has changed to Peter Indorf Designs. Since 1972, Peter Indorf has developed strong relationships with clients in the Greater New Haven area and along the Connecticut shoreline, providing beautiful, unique designs, and finding creative solutions to jewelry challenges.

Everyone needs a jewelry appraisal at some point, with jewelry insurance coverage valuation being the most common. Other reasons are the desire to sell your jewelry or give away your jewelry to your heirs or in some cases division of property due to divorce or other reasons. We offer a free introductory consultation to ascertain the scope of the appraisal assignment and to provide our expert advice and free estimates of any work being considered.
Using a combination of state-of-the-art technology and old-fashioned handmade craftsmanship, we can restyle your old jewelry into something new and beautiful, or create a special design using your gems or ours. Special order proposals include either a hand drawn design or a three-dimensional color rendering that is so realistic you will swear it is a photograph!

I'd like to add to my review. After meeting with Peter he exceeded my expectations with his vast knowledge impeccable craftsmanship not to mention his wonderful demeanor! He's always answered any of my crazy questions without making me feel inferior for asking! I feel like I've met a dear friend I can trust in a business that doesn't always have the most forthright folks. Peter is a fabulous jewelry designer & can make practically anything for you!

We contacted Peter with the idea of having a custom piece designed for me incorporating my children's birthstones. Peter was immediately responsive. He listened to my thoughts and responded with information, suggestions and guidance. Before long, we narrowed it down to two designs for which he provided detailed proposals. Once we commited to one, Peter got right to work and delivered the finished product earlier than promised. The jewelery is absolutely stunning and working with Peter was a pleasure from start to finish. I look forward to the next time!

My wife and I have been married for 35 years. Peter crafted our wedding rings from a concept that we literally scribbled out on a piece of scrap paper. We never (well, very seldom) took them off over all those years and both had shown some wear. We sent the rings to Peter for restoration and the results are spectacular! We feel like newlyweds again.
And why not? The rings and engagement diamond sparkle like new. Peter was as helpful today as he was when he originally designed the rings. I am sure that if they start to wear out again in 35 years, we'll be sending them back to Peter Indorf again. He is not just a jeweler, but a true artisan.

A few months ago, I reached out to Peter to see if he could create a ring that I had been in love with for years. I couldn't have had a more positive experience. Peter found the perfect engagement setting for a stone we provided. He was so easy to work with from outside the country, communicating regularly and thoroughly through emails. The final piece was exactly as envisioned and delivered on time. His pricing was fair, and he even worked us on some pieces we wanted to sell. Highly recommend Peter Indorf Designs.

I have been to both locations (this designer has one in New Haven, too) and was surprised that they didn't have more interesting pieces, given that it's a designer shop. There was more to choose from that was unusual in New Haven in their shop there, I should note. They have a lot of the standard gemstones in prong settings, but there were a few unusual pieces.
My boyfriend took me in here to find something special for my birthday. We found one pair of earrings that we both really liked, but the problem with them was just that they had short wires that didn't fit my ears well. I was surprised that, as a jeweler, they did not offer to replace the wires with one of the many styles of gold leverbacks that are available, even if it cost more.
They kept pushing the little rubber stoppers as the solution to the issue. I should note that when I went to the New Haven location of the store and noted the same issue with another pair of earrings, the salesperson quickly pointed out that they could put any kind of wire on that I wanted, and even got out the book to show me the options and prices.
As a result, we walked away from the Madision store. If you're looking for fine gold and pure silver designer work and are in the Madison area, I would recommend this store. But push for what you want if something needs to be changed. As I learned from their other location, anything is possible.
