Philip and Company, a wholesale jewelry firm, was founded in 1958 by Philip T. Sonntag. Philip sold jewelry to retail stores in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Nevada. In 1984 when Philip was called to serve his church full-time the company was purchased by his son Mark Sonntag, and his son-in-law Dean Hodson. Mark and Dean had success for over 31 years before Philip & Co was acquired by Philip Sonntag's granddaughter Melissa Butikofer and her husband Eric Butikofer. They have carried on the traditions of the founder as the store branched out to retail customers.
