Our journey began when newlyweds Scott Carey and Carol Wagen transformed a spare room into a workshop, driven by a passion for creative design. For more than three decades, we have proudly served Grand Rapids and the greater West Michigan community. Our founder, Scott, honed his craft through a rigorous apprenticeship in the mid-eighties, absorbing techniques from experienced jewelers. We bring decades of hands-on expertise to every piece we create, from clean Scandinavian-influenced designs to intricate organic forms. Our in-house team excels at solving highly technical and complicated challenges, such as crafting a mosaic ring with varied green gems.

I received a pair of earrings from JC Penney as a gift and I needed one repaired after the back had broken off. They fixed my earring for half the cost that JC Penney quoted me on. I was very particular in the new post I needed and it worked out perfectly. They were very helpful! So glad I can wear my earrings again!

One of the links on my necklace kept popping open, and they got me patched up and out the door in under 10 minutes. I would have been happy to leave it there for a month of that's what it took, but the speed AND peace of mind knowing it's not going to break again is worth more than the $29 I paid (which, omg, what a deal!)

I have a background in design, so naturally I wanted to design the wedding rings for my upcoming wedding. After describing our design ideas to a few jewelers around Grand Rapids, we were pointed to Metal Art Studio. "They work with more organic concepts" we were told. Carol and Scott have been amazing through the creation of our rings. In our initial meeting, we told them our budget and they laid out the process and told us what it would cost to fully develop our rings from scratch.
We decided on a pebble concept after seeing a ring that Scott, who is the main jeweler and owner, had created for retail sale. After getting our initial design drawings, he cleaned them up and drew options to scale for our review. We chose an option, suggested minor revisions and then finalized the design. We were even able to select which diamonds we wanted through their supplier's online diamond portal.
After we made down payments, Carol and Amy, who handle the customer service side of Metal Art, gave us a timeline of 6 to 8 weeks. They not only delivered on time well ahead of our wedding, but my fiance's ring was completed under budget! Now I can't wait to see my ring!

Scott helped me get the perfect anniversary gift. I had very vague idea, and he drew up some ideas, then had crafted a beautiful set of earrings. Everyone was friendly and helpful through the whole process, and my wife was thrilled with the end result.

I can't begin to describe what a wonderful experience I had with Scott, Carol, and the whole staff. I went in with a vague idea of what I wanted and left with a beautiful design that Scott made reality a couple of weeks later. The custom necklace is a true work of art. Carol helped me chose the right diamond and chain and her insights belied her knowledge and experience. I'm beyond excited to surprise my Princess with her special necklace soon.
It wouldn't have happened without the outstanding staff there. Did I mention that Scott laser welded my assistant's broken necklace two days before her wedding so she could wear it? He did it in 10 minutes on a busy Thursday. Their attention to detail and customer service and satisfaction is unparalleled.

Metal Art Studio worked with my fiance, Brett, and me to find the perfect fit for our budget and style when we went in to shop for rings initially. Brett said he had a wonderful discussion when he went to order the ring and they made decision-making so easy! I recently took the ring in to be resized slightly on the Friday before Labor Day Weekend, and it was ready to pick up the following Tuesday in the early afternoon after the holiday! They even did it free of charge. They provided a really great experience, as well as art that is beautifully made. I would recommend their expertise to anyone.

Amy is so nice and professional. I got a rhodium plating and refinish and had my ring back looking brand new before the estimated date. My ring really takes a beating working at a hospital, constantly washing my hands and using hand sanitizer. I'm excited to show my ring off :
